The 10-point HVAC website readiness checklist.
A fast, practical review for owners who want to know whether their website makes service requests easier, or quietly gets in the way. Check items off as you go.
A visitor can tell what you do and where you work within five seconds.
Test the first screen on a phone. Someone unfamiliar with the company should be able to name the service and coverage area without scrolling through vague slogans.
Your emergency, repair, replacement, and maintenance services have clear paths.
These customers have different urgency and questions. Separate paths make the site easier to scan and give important topics enough room.
The primary inquiry button is visible and usable on a phone.
The most important action should look tappable, use clear words, and not fight with chat widgets, banners, or tiny menus.
Your phone number, hours, service area, and licenses are accurate and consistent.
Inconsistencies create doubt and can confuse both customers and search systems. Check the website against the accounts and documents you actually control.
Trust claims use real, verifiable facts instead of placeholder counters.
Use real credentials, years, reviews, photos, and guarantees only when they are accurate and approved. Remove zero counters, filler, and unverifiable superlatives.
Forms show a confirmation and deliver to a monitored inbox.
Submit every form like a customer. Confirm the success message, actual inbox receipt, reply path, spam handling, and responsible owner.
Every page has one clear purpose, descriptive title, and useful heading.
A title and main heading should describe the page for people first. Avoid duplicate titles, generic “Welcome” headings, and lists of repeated location keywords.
Images are relevant, compressed, and described with useful alternative text.
Use original, licensed, or properly permitted images. Resize them for the display area and describe meaningful images without stuffing keywords.
The site uses HTTPS and avoids intrusive mobile popups.
Security and mobile usability are baseline trust signals. Test on a real phone and remove anything that covers the service information or primary action.
You can update the domain, hosting, analytics, and business profile accounts you own.
The business should control or have documented access to its domain registrar, hosting, analytics, forms, and business listings. Do not leave ownership trapped with a former vendor.
Gaps are normal. Most working HVAC sites fail several of these. The free audit turns your three most costly gaps into a specific plan.
